We are So Proud of You

I wish everyone could have a job as rewarding and as joyful as mine.

When I see former TWTC clients who are living their resolve to build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities, I absolutely burst with pride. I witnessed these women coming to terms with their dependency, overcoming it, continuing their education, pursuing careers in law enforcement, seeking graduate degrees, entering new professions, healing and ministering to others. What other job offers such an opportunity to witness transformations of this magnitude?

When we salute some of the stars of TWTC on May 16, we pay tribute to every woman who has completed a program here at The WomenÕs Treatment Center. We honor each woman who remains victorious over dependency. We celebrate every mother who now is better able to be an attentive parent, lovingly nurturing her children and actively involved in their lives.

The 16 women in the spotlight represent hundreds more who have been in our care during the past 11 years. They dramatically demonstrate to our major donors that they made a sound investment; not only in the lives of these women, but in the lives of their children and the community at large. So, we applaud the Illinois Department of Human Services Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the County of Cook, the City of Chicago and the Chicago Tribune Holiday Fund, Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation for the difference theyÕve made in all of our lives.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the outstanding staff and management here at TWTC. Their compassion and their dedication to high quality care has helped TWTC once again pass a stringent review by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Joint Commission accreditation makes a strong statement about our desire to provide safe, high quality care to the women we serve at TWTC. So, we are extremely pleased to be granted accreditation and to be recognized by the Joint Commission for our compliance with national quality standards.

We pledge continued support of our staff in delivering the highest level of care, so that the TWTC galaxy of stars will grow larger and brighter; and so that our communities will continue to reap the benefit of the hard work these women perform here at TWTC.

Congratulations to all of our stars, our staff, management, board directors and donors for a job extremely well done!
