Please Support Our Circle of Life
Executive Director Jewell K. Oates, Ph.D.
When we leave the benefit performance
of The Lion King at the
Cadillac Palace Theatre on
December 14, I predict that each of
us will be even more inspired to
protect the fragile circle of life here
at TWTC. Addiction has a tremendous
impact on children, denying
them the care and nurturing they
need from their mothers.
Our ability to mend that bond
is threatened, as budget deficits in
federal and state government result
in fewer dollars for life-saving, family-
building programs such as ours.
During fiscal year 2003, our largest
funding source reduced our budget
by 2%. The percentage may seem
small; but the impact is significant
when you measure it against an
ever growing need for increased
and enhanced services. During this
belt-tightening year, the creation of
new services or service enhancement
must be supported through
grants, fundraising and individual
donations. This is an uphill battle,
since foundations (and individuals)
also have fewer dollars this year --
and, no doubt, more requests.
As always, my greatest concern
is for the survival and growth
of TWTC and our continued ability
to offer interventions for mothers
and hope to their children. We at
TWTC do great work, and are
straining to maintain the high quality of our programs. We need your
help! Our daycare center, for example,
is 12 years old and needs a
facelift.
Donations for new furniture,
such as cabinets for toys and books,
high-chairs, tables and chairs for
toddlers, child-size furniture for the
housekeeping area, manipulables
and gross motor toys would help us
fulfill our mission to provide a
wholesome, nurturing educational
environment for our children.
Won’t you please help support
the circle of life at TWTC?
Your Donation Will Buy...
