Meet Our Volunteer Stars

The Junior League of Chicago has been a volunteer ally with The Women's Treatment Center for over 25 years. Members work with clients in the Recovery Unit who are undergoing the final stages of therapy for substance abuse. Members plan and conduct weekly events that develop the mothers’ job, social and life skills while helping to enhance the mother/child relationship.  They have also played a crucial role in keeping our Women's and Children's Clothes Closet in excellent form - a boutique where the women enjoy selecting new outfits.

Chicago Cares’mission is to mobilize volunteers to build a stronger, more unified Chicago. The agency offers an ongoing calendar of opportunities so that individuals can sign up for as few or as many volunteer experiences as they like. Be sure to sign up to help The Women’s Treatment Center monthly to organize its women’s clothes closet. Help our clients shop in style at TWTC's free boutique.

TWTC's programs serve women whose anonymity must be legally maintained. It also serves children on site so there are rigorous standards and legalities that need to be followed for volunteering. TWTC has an extensive volunteer vetting process that includes passing several types of background checks, undergoing two TB tests, and filling out a lot of paperwork. Because of the cost of background checks and the attrition rate of individual volunteers, TWTC prefers working with groups who provide these initial background services.  However, don't be discouraged.  First timers may want to go on to the Chicago Cares website and volunteer with us through their program. Chicago Cares can initiate you on how our services work. If, after visiting us, you are interested, contact Volunteer at 312-850-0050 for more information. We will need your commitment for at least one year.
